President's Letter
Dear WHS Parents, Parents of Former Students and WHS Friends,
There are currently 537 Student athletes in Weston High School. Almost 75% of the student body participates in a sports program, yet only 46% of their parents choose to contribute to the Boosters Club. The Boosters’ mission statement is to directly support all of your sons’ and daughters’ sports experiences at Weston High School, varsity teams, intramurals and club teams. The Boosters Club goal is to have a 100% team participation rate. Will you help us be “Trojan Strong?”
Over the past five years Boosters has raised and expended OVER $250,000.00 dollars towards athletic equipment, facility upgrades, awards and team/varsity jackets. Virtually every single team has benefited directly, and all have benefited indirectly. The Boosters Club takes great pride in being able to recognize Weston High School’s extraordinary student athletes having presenting $40,000 in Boosters Club Scholar Athlete Awards and Outstanding Achievement Awards to eligible athletes and $28,000 for varsity and championship team jackets and $11,000 for trophies.
Boosters have supplied over $40,000 for weight room equipment (over two years), $10,000 toward bleachers, and $10,000+ for swim team/pool equipment. $10,000 toward stadium lights, $6,000 for indoor batting cages, $5,500 for lacrosse helmets and protective eye wear, $5,000 for tennis court resurfacing, $4,300 for the football team sled, $3,500 for track and field hurdles and carriers, $3,000 for volleyball upright and safety pads, $2,500 for Ski Team GS race suits, $2,000 for industrial ice machine, $1,500 for the gymnastics vault. The list continues with golf bags, cheerleader uniforms, spectator basketball buses, ice hockey co-op and locker room fees, wrestling and National Rowing Team fees, field hockey and soccer equipment bags, soccer kick back goals, Dance Team uniforms, and an updated sound system for the gym.
In order to reach more parents who are interested in supporting their student athletes, we have created a new website, www.whsboosters.com, as a way to communicate directly with you, share all of the many accomplishments of our High School sports teams and recognize individual student athletes. We have your email address from the form you filled out with your past contribution to Boosters Club and we take this as a sign that you are interested in how The Club addresses and supports the needs of Weston High School athletes. The new website is easy to navigate and will have links to all High School teams. The dates and times for our athletes to participate in the ongoing Boosters Club Fundraiser of can and bottle collecting at The Onion Barn will be posted. Most importantly, the website will contain a list of all Boosters Club contributions so you can see exactly and directly where your donation dollars go.
Please help keep The Boosters Club legacy “Trojan Strong” by continuing to contribute. The athletes feel your support when you come out to cheer them on. Boosters feels your support when you write a check. Please help us spread the word. Forward this email to your friends. Make sure your child’s team is at 100% Boosters Club participation rate.
